Daniele Maurizi, wire sculptures at South End Green Fountain
A temporary public sculpture commission was unveiled at the launch of the Christmas Festival at the Fountain on Tuesday 15 December at South End Green. The artist is Daniele Maurizi, a Foundation Course student at Hampstead School of Art.
Principal, Isabel H Langtry says, "Daniele is a very promising artist whose craftsmanship is of a very high standard. Daniele’s commitment to the South End Green Fountain Project has been exceptional, he has worked extremely hard crafting the beautiful wire figures and the blue water effect that now decorates the Fountain, and will remain in position over the Christmas period. The whole HSoA Foundation Course cohort of students supported Daniele when his proposal was the one selected by the SEG committee to go forward to the installation stage. The school team also supported Daniele's work which has taken two months to complete and many hours of careful crafting to create the high quality outcome everyone can now visit at South End Green”.
The SEG committee reinstalled the lights and created a marvellous Christmas Festival atmosphere with Gospel Oak Primary School children playing brass instruments and singing carols alongide Fleet Road Primay School Choir. Mulled wine and festive cheer were abundant.
