GIANT LEAVES ARE GROWING OUT OF A WALL IN LAMBETH

A huge mural has appeared on a brick wall close to Lambeth North tube. Local artist and HSoA student, Malcolm Willett, whose studio overlooks the tracks at Waterloo was commissioned to design a huge mural for the south facing wall of a new apartment hotel at 111 Westminster Bridge Road. It was built for Marlin apartments by McAleer and Rushe, and designed by Todd Architects.

Malcolm’s “LEAVES” uses the bricks as pixels to create a giant image of leaves emerging from the wall itself. The mural is approximately 14 metres high and 7 metres wide and consists of 6,000 individually painted bricks
using 9 especially mixed colours supplied by specialist exterior paint manufacturer, Keim.

The mural can be seen from Newnham Terrace, London SE1 7DR, some of the surrounding streets and one day soon on Google Earth!
