Lanu graduated from MFA programme at The Slade School of Art in 2017.
Lanu uses a mixed media process to express the subjects in her works. Part of her art practice consists of drawing, sound, and sculpture. Sounds are important too, they speak of something, sometimes of things we are unable to decipher or remind us of memories we have. Lanu wonders how these soundsconnect with the environment around, how she may incorporate them in a piece she will make. Some of her works address distressful subjects, social or political situations that affect society. Other works are born from her personal fears and/or experiences, they sometimes crossover with wider society anxieties. Lanu is also interested in the language we use, how we communicate, how communication has evolved; for example one of her pieces, ‘La Vucciria’ was concerned about the old oral tradition, in particular the “Abbaniate’, the calling outs in markets which were spoken in verse in countries across the Mediterranean; that have now been recorded.
