Phil was born and grew up in the Channel Islands, Jersey. After he completed his Foundation he moved to London to Study Painting at Wimbledon College of Art. Since Graduating in 2015 he continues his practice drawing and painting outside teaching.
"My current series of works are focused around the unnoticed and overlooked of a studio life. Working from direct observation, my practice aims to draw attention to what would ordinarily be perceived and described as being incidental, the usual or mundane. I work from observation, however this does not preclude invention. In my paintings a form of reductionism takes place; a stripping down to what is essential; both tonality and colour are carefully considered. The purpose is not an over statement of reality, rather it is a working towards a quiet precision in describing what is seen with a cold sense of humour and honesty."
