Caldwell and Haig’s work sit together so well, one could imagine that the very earth in Caldwell’s painting’s has been used by Haig to create her remarkable ceramics, or that Haig’s earthy colours have inspired Caldwell to stride into the countryside to paint such delicate, piercing observations. Both are masters of their mediums, both have exhibited extensively and to great acclaim- their works appear in many great collections. I have studied them both feeling drawn to their skill and generosity in sharing with us experiences both personal and intense responses to our world, beautiful and unfathomable, the echoes of the past palpably in the present through their work. Thank you both, a delight and a pleasure to be exhibiting your work.
