Frank Bowling OBE, RA and the Principal Isabel H Langtry met when Isabel was a post graduate student at St Martins School of Art. Over the following decades they had many conversations about art and in particular about Bowling’s painting ideas and processes. In this illustrated lecture Langtry off ers personal insights into Bowling's modus operandi, often ‘directly from the horses mouth’ and ponders the thinking of New York art critics Harold Rosenberg and Clement Greenberg. This lecture comes from the point of view of someone who has collaborated on Bowling's painting in his studio, this collaborative approach informs much of the later work.
