Sculptor Dolorosa Sinaga talks about "Inspiration, Exploration and Interpretation"

Dolorosa Sinaga, Dean of the Fine Art Institute, Jakarta, Indonesia talks about making public sculpture, running a sculpture

studio and her influences as a sculptor. A renowned Sumatra-born artist, Sinaga is a graduate from Jakarta Institute of the Arts and postgraduate from St. Martin’s School of Art, London.

A lecturer in sculpture, history of art, anatomy and figure drawing.

“I’ve always liked teaching; it’s a form of my responsibility to the public. By teaching, I can also be part of conversations across generations to share what I’ve got for future generations. That’s very important to me.”

Her works, mostly featuring female figures, have been collected by the International Monetary Fund Gallery in Washington, DC, the office of the Indonesian Central Bank, the Office of the National Commission on Violence Against Women and the SOL Art Gallery in Chianti, Italy.
