Congratulations Alan on your 80th year! I am delighted to be exhibiting the latest series of paintings for this the third solo exhibition at the HSoA Gallery. ‘Alan Gouk at 80’ is an exhibition of resonant colours which play between shapes, tension and drama ceaselessly inspiring, and collected by numerous public and private institutions, including the Tate. They are an unparalleled collection of visual delights exuding colour, setting up tensions, exploring possibilities. Alan's prodigious creative energy and imagination are electric. Thank you Alan. Frank Bowling OBE RA, also a patron of the art school and with whom Alan recently exhibited comments.
“Stuttery stubborn, haptic with passion, like a blind man tap tapping his way across the terrain. With the kind of smouldering juxtaposition of colour rather like Clyfford. Still at his best, congratulations Alan”
Isabel H Langtry, Principal HSoA.
