Guided Studio Practice Course

As an artist of the HSoA ‘Guided Studio Practice’ you will be working independently in an HSoA studio, providing a stimulating and flexible environment for artists to experiment and make new work. Studio Based Practice reflects the lively, rigorous and open-ended approaches to art-making championed by HSoA. Artists will work in the shared studio close to the art school.

What does the ‘Guided Studio Practice’ offer?

The programme will include artist talks, lectures, weekly tutorial you will develop your personal work in the beautiful surroundings of a historic Chapel, which offers great light double height ceilings. A chance to shape your own experience and be part of the art school culture. At the end of the academic year you will have the chance to exhibit your work a great chance for the public to meet and see the work of the resident artists.

How long is the course?

The Guided Studio Practice Course is a 1-year course with the option to extend thereafter. We have limited spaces if you wish to apply for the course on a term by term basis (12 weeks). If you are unsure sometimes we will be able to offer a 1 month course taster.

Who should apply?

The course is for visual artists who wish to be supported with a weekly crit for their studio practice..

Where is it based?

The Chapel is located in Hampstead Cemetery situated off Fortune Green Road, 5 mins from the Hampstead School of Art at Finchley Road NW3

Fees

The fee for 1 year is £4,000 which includes weekly crits, studio space, HSoA reference Library, access to the HSoA community with lectures, private views, exhibiting opportunities. Please contact the office to check availability for the short term courses.

HSoA will support artists with any funding applications to cover the costs of attending the course.

Studio opening hours during the Academic Year 15 Sept- 15 July. Mon to Sun: 8am – 9pm
