David Baddiel opens Art Fair Day 2016

"Creative workshops, painting, listening to music and engaging with theatre produced a most special and rarely found atmosphere of collaboration through creativity", says Isabel Langtry about this year's Art Fair Day.

Masha Geftar of the Ham & High writes:

"More than 5,000 people attended the Art Fair at Whitestone Pond in Hampstead on Sunday, organised in association with the Hampstead School of Art as part of the Summer Festival running until this weekend.

The event, now in its fifth year, offers opportunities for all festival goers to join in the process of art- making; whether it’s serious buyers, those looking to start a collection, or children simply wanting to get their hands dirty – all to a backdrop of live music and a lovely food and wine bar.

Throughout the day there were a series of competitions for categories that included the over-60s and children, some of which received more than 300 submissions.

There were also workshops organised by experts and celebrities such as TV and radio art critic Estelle Lovatt, not to mention opportunities for visitors to make their own mark on the giant community canvas inspired by artist-in-residence Edward Ofosu.

Isabel Langtry, principal of Hampstead School of Art and volunteer for Hampstead Summer Festival, said: “The mix of visitors collaborating in creative workshops, painting, listening to music and engaging with theatre produced a most special and rarely found atmosphere of collaboration through creativity.” She added: “Even the weather worked with us, it was a beautiful day.”

All profits and money raised will be donated to three local charities; Henderson Court, Keats Community Library, and Hampstead School of Art.
