HALF TERM WORKSHOP SPOTLIGHT: Self Portrait Sculpture

In this workshop you will create a small self-portrait using a mirror and professional grade oil based clay which can be baked solid in the oven at home. This is an excellent way to explore sculpture without mess or having to produce a cast/fire the sculpting material. We will use a variety of tools and techniques to develop a likeness and examine the anatomy, structure and texture of our faces. The small nature of the sculpture allows greater experimentation to adapt and change the work, to best develop character and expressiveness in the final product. It is suggested the form of the sculpture be that of a ‘mask’ (nose to temple).
