We are delighted to announce a new collaboration with our community partners Mount Anvil. The collaboration will allow HSoA to offer a 12 month Artist in Residence programme from the Grade 2 Listed Temple at Hampstead Manor, Kidderpore Avenue.
To coincide with the launch of the Hampstead Sculpture Garden this May the first Artist in Residence will be the Foundation Course Leader and sculptor Martin Darbyshire. Martin will oversee this exciting new partnership whilst playing an important role in the development of the programme for future Artists in Residence.
We asked Martin about this new opportunity
As a sculptor 2020 is a very exciting year for HSoA and I am super happy to have the opportunity to see the new Sculpture garden unfold in front of my eyes. The school patron Francisco Gazitua MRSS is a marvellous sculptor, with incredible technical skill so I am certain working next to one of his steel and stone sculptures will be inspirational.
Aside from my work, which I will be primarily using the Temple to make from, I look forward to seeing how the project can bring new ideas to the table and offer something additional to the HSoA portfolio.
