Delighted to be back! Isabel H Langtry
We were delighted to welcome new and returning students to the art school and pleased that students have expressed their relief at the schools reopening, and gratitude for being able to create again in a new, relaxed, enjoyable environment.
The first week in any term is always a fertile period, but this week we have seen how art provides a guise for escaping reality. In between enjoying new company, some students have talked about ‘getting lost in the canvas’ or ‘being so engrossed they forgot tea-break!’. For others, the opportunity to make the most of our two outside cafe areas to catch up with old friends proved
Studio changes: a positive experience
With our new reduced class sizes studio learning at HSoA has never been more spacious, allowing ambitious students the opportunity to work on a larger scale - with the most intuitive using the canvas to map out safe distancing.
To support the reopening staff continue to work around the clock to ensure the classrooms are fully cleaned between and after classes. We have increased the number of tools in workshops and created a painting and drawing kit for each child to use throughout the term. For adults and tutors, visors have proved a popular PPE addition, with some even using them to create a new persona!
Online opportunities
For those unable to attend the school our online classes have allowed students remote access to art school life. Our courses in Drawing, Painting and Art Appreciation have proved a real hit, with student Hillary Jacobs stating that her first zoom experience was ‘an inspirational session’.
We are looking forward to providing all our students with a wonderful term, full of art-making, and fun while confident that the changes we have made will keep our student and staff as safe as possible.
Welcome back and stay safe together!
